Legs Against Arms 5K/Walk, 1 mile Fun Run/Walk, Peace Festival, and Celebration of Youth
As an outgrowth of our commitment to eliminate the epidemic of youth violence in Philadelphia, Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) is hosting Legs Against Arms, a 5K Race/Walk, at Saint Joseph's University and the surrounding community on April 13, 2008. The intent is to begin to change the social norms in Philadelphia that celebrate violence. Legs Against Arms will encourage youth and adults to come together to strengthen their legs as they send a clear message opposing arms in Philadelphia. Proceeds will support our on-going work to build respect between individuals in our local and global communities.

May 1, June 12 8:30 am – 5:00pm
The Core Program
The Core Program consists of eleven day-long seminar sessions from September through June. Meetings generally consist of a morning listening to local leaders sharing the inside story on current issues, followed by an afternoon of leadership or trustee skills development. Participants receive individual skills development plans. Each meeting and speaker is evaluated to ensure that LEADERSHIP is meeting the group's needs. Outdoor team-building experiences, board observations and police ride-alongs enrich the seminar experience.
Qualified candidates are seasoned individuals with leadership skills and a drive to take responsibility for improving the quality of life in the region. Nominees should be prominent within their organizations, have the sponsor's personal endorsement, and be prepared to commit time to participate in the program. They should intend to stay in the region. Candidates must complete an interview with LEADERSHIP's staff to be admitted.
